Sometimes, new clients prefer to come in for a haircut and have the color consultation at that time. This allows me to cut the hair into your desired shape and then decide on color placement based on your haircut. I use the Olaplex bond builder with almost all of my color services. I use this to protect your hair when it is being put through a chemical service such as a lightening (bleaching) service, highlights, balayage or an all over blonding.

What is Olaplex? What does it do? How does it help the client?

Our hair is made up of disulfide bonds, which give it strength and stability. When these bonds break during a chemical service, heat styling and environmental damage, the hair becomes weak, damaged and compromised. Olaplex restores damaged and compromised hair by repairing from the inside out with a patented single ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. This technology is ONLY available with Olaplex. Once the bonds are intact you have healthy, shiny beautiful hair. 

Olaplex has a line of at home care so as to continue strengthening your hair long after your salon visit has ended. Healthy hair is always beautiful ! I will advise you on the right products to use at home so your hair can always look healthy and beautiful.

What is a hair detox treatment ? Why is it needed ?

A hair detox treatment allows for the removal of minerals like iron, copper and calcium that build up on hair over time. This build up can cause breakage, dullness, hair discoloration and dryness. This treatment is a must if you swim regularly and your hair comes into contact with chlorine. A hair detox allows the chlorine to be chelated from the hair shaft. Not doing this before a lightening service will lead to uneven lift and dryness.

Do I have the option of an ammonia-free color to cover my grays ?

Yes, you do ! I can offer an ammonia free demi permanent color for gray blending, that seals in moisture, adds shine and will last for upto 25 shampoos. It does not give a 100% gray coverage like a permanent color does, but it will blend upto 70% of grays. It is a great option for first time gray coverage guests. Another advantage of this option is the ability to obtain a very soft grow-out, no hard grow out line like with permanent color.

What is the color and product line ?

The color line I use is Joico. Joico has long been known for its innovative products and the use of ArgiPlex technology to replace Arginine – an essential amino acid that is depleted during the coloring process. This instantly adds shine and strength to the hair. Joico has also pioneered an exclusive technological blend of lipids, amino acids and ceramides, that soften and smooth the hair structure increasing manageability, softness and shine. Joico products are cruelty free.

The product line I love is, of course Olaplex, Joico and I also use Davines. As an ex-Aveda stylist I was really keen to find a natural, sustainable and green product line. Davines favor the use of ingredients of natural origin, are generated with renewable electric energy and packaged minimizing environmental impact. Davines products are cruelty free. Their products are mostly manufactured in Parma, Italy.
